The city wide annual garage sale will take place once again on the 2nd Saturday in September, this year on the 9th. The City is now offering tools to help residents list their sales allowing potential buyers easy access to finding all the participating homes. Below is information released by the City Clerk’s office:
HOSTING A GARAGE SALE?
Get your garage sale on the interactive map by registering online at CLICK HERE. The location of your garage sale will be posted on the citywide garage sale map allowing bargain hunters to easily locate your sale. The easy-to-use form asks basic information about your garage sale and offers the option to post photos of items for sale.
Get social! Post updates, photos about your garage sale on the City’s Facebook event page.
a. Help spread the word by sharing the event on social media or via email.
b. Encourage neighbors and friends to participate.

AFTER YOUR GARAGE SALE:
Leftover items? Consider the following:
a. Donate to a charitable organization or thrift store
b. List items on Craigslist or eBay
c. Save items for future garage sale(s)
d. Call the South San Francisco Scavenger Company to arrange for one of your bi-annual pick-ups at the following number: (650) 589-4020
Garage sales are a great opportunity to resell unwanted items, reuse, reduce and recycle! Seize the chance to help your neighbors and your ecosystem by participating in this annual event.

THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY THE CITY WILL BE HOSTING A CITY WIDE CLEAN UP
SAVE THE DATE! This is your one-stop event to get rid of things you didn’t sell during the citywide garage sale the previous weekend.
Once again, the City is hosting a Fall cleanup day where you can:
* Donate items to the Salvation Army * Dispose of trash (one car load per household)
*Shred five boxes of paper
*Dispose of e-waste, which includes old computers, VCRs, televisions, etc.
The Salvation Army, trash disposal and paper shredding will be at the South San Francisco Corporation Yard, 550 N. Canal Street.
The e-waste event will be at Fire Station #61, 480 N. Canal Street.

Do you want to get rid of everything immediately after your sale? Drive it down to Redwood City PARCA/SAVERS – they are open and accept donations until 9pm on Saturdays and on Sundays 10-7pm Check their website CLICK HERE to be sure all items are accepted.

Through a partnership with Saver’s Stores, Parca is able to turn used clothing and household item donations into the funds we need to operate our programs. You may drop-off your donations of clothing and usable household items at any Saver’s Thrift Store at the following locations:

On Call Clean Up Program for single-family dwellings:
Every 12 months, residents of single-family dwellings can schedule two free clean-ups. It’s a great opportunity to get rid of a large bulky item and several bags of garbage. Once you schedule your clean up, we’ll come by on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day and pick up:
12 bags of garbage OR
6 bags of garbage and ONE large item-sofa, mattress, appliance, etc.
Please note that special handling fees will apply to televisions, computer monitors, and other electronics. Already used your two free clean ups?

Clean Up Day Tips:
Let us know how many bags of garbage and which bulky items you’ll be putting out at the curb.
No loose garbage will be collected. Put in bags or boxes.
All branches or carpet rolls must be tied and no longer than 4 feet.
Please recycle yard waste and other recyclables on your collection day.
