Bay Area Firefighters and Families: Sonoma and Napa Fires Fundraising Efforts

South San Francisco, CA   October 11, 2017

LOCAL AFFILIATES SET UP FUND RAISING SITE TO AID FIREFIGHTERS & FAMILIES WHO’VE LOST HOMES IN THE NORTH BAY FIRESTORM

Three days into one of the most extreme and dangerous fire events in state history, as many as 40 firefighters are believed to have lost their homes. Many of those who have lost homes were out on the lines doing their duty. Others have lost family members.

Local affiliates have come together to form an official fund raising site to aid those members whose lives have been uprooted by the disaster.
Proceeds from the Bay Area Firefighters and Families Fund will be equally allocated between all affected members. 100% of the funds go to our affected members.

FROM THE GO FUND A HERO PAGE:

Official fund raising platform for firefighters who’ve lost their homes in the Sonoma and Napa firestorm of 2017, managed by IAFF Local 1775
My Story is:

October 9, 2017, a wind driven firestorm enveloped dozens of communities in Sonoma and Napa counties, California.  Scores of homes were destroyed, and as of October 10, the fires are still largely uncontained, threatening thousands more.  As firefighters risk their lives working to protect civilians, many have learned that their homes were consumed as well.

Most of these brave heroes are still on the firelines, and have not been able to even assess the damage or comfort their families.  We now know that some of these firefighters lost family members, loved ones, and cherished pets in addition to losing all of their belongings.

This fund, managed by Marin Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 1775 (www.iaff1775.org) and Santa Rosa Firefighters, IAFF Local 1401 (www.srff.org) is the official fundraising platform to assist the many FIREFIGHTERS and their families who’ve lost homes.  Funds raised here will be distributed equally among those in need – currently at least 40 firefighter families affected from IAFF Locals 1401 (Santa Rosa Firefighters), 1775 (Marin Professional Firefighters), 2881 (Cal Fire Firefighters), 55 (Oakland Firefighters), 798 (San Francisco Firefighters), 1415 (Petaluma Firefighters), and several other smaller agencies and locals.
