South San Francisco, CA October 3, 2017
Less than a month ago Carolyn was planning on covering an event for Everything South City. At the last minute she needed to cancel, which as many know, is unlike Carolyn. Knowing she had used a lot of energy fighting cancer yet was back on her feet, back in her game, it was understandable she might need more rest. Cancer takes a lot out of you…..
Today we find out it took everything out of Carolyn, as the news spread that she died today from the cancer she had been fighting. “I hope I find some answers as to why I am feeling ill and lacking energy, which is not like me” she said last month lamenting this was the first ‘assignment’ she was not able to complete as she headed back to her doctor.
“Rest in peace Carolyn Livengood.” wrote San Bruno Councilmember Ken Ibarra, long time friend and neighbor of Carolyn’s “You were a friend and advocate for so many and for so long. An entire region thanks you for your community involvement.”
Her style of writing, her keen interests, her sense of right and wrong, of community, is a testament to the depth of her caring for us all in the manner of an era that is quickly fading. May her memory be a blessing.
