South San Francisco, CA October 31, 2017 Submitted by SSFPD
During a two-day period between 10-28-17 and 10-29-17, the South San Francisco Police Department made three separate arrests of drivers who were driving under the influence of marijuana. One driver collided with a street light pole, one driver collided with several parked cars, and the other driver was found passed out behind the wheel of his running car in a parking lot. All three drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs (marijuana). Thankfully, no one was injured during any of the incidents.
The South San Francisco Police Department reminds everyone that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving. Although marijuana may be legal to possess under certain circumstances, it is never okay to drive after smoking marijuana or while under the influence of any drugs (whether legal or not); this includes prescription drugs. All South San Francisco Police Officers are specially trained in identifying alcohol, marijuana, and drug impaired drivers. If you choose to drive while under the influence of any drug, including marijuana, you are putting yourself and others at risk. If you are caught, you face jail time, significant financial penalties, and a permanent criminal record.
