Alta Loma Park Renovation Started as 11 SSF Parks are Updated

Work has begun on the renovation of Alta Loma Playground in South San Francisco and soon it will be home to new play equipment and accessibility improvements to the parking lot and nearby pathways.

“This is the beginning of several, much needed, park improvements in the City of South San Francisco,” said Mayor Pradeep Gupta. “Our residents have voiced their concerns – we’re listening and taking action – and it’s very important for the entire City Council to make improving our parks a priority moving forward.”
The new features of the Alta Loma Park include:
  • Spintastic
  • Spin Cup
  • Rhino-Dyno
  • Cozy Cacoon
  • T-Swing with Tot Seats
  • Wave Rider See Saw
  • Beehive
  • Rubberized Safety Surfacing, which is funded separately through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds

 

 

 

The City is providing more than $300,000 in funds to conduct this renovation, which is expected to be complete before the end of the year, weather permitting.
South San Francisco is home to dozens of parks, ranging from large community parks, to specialty parks, and over the course of the next few years, the South San Francisco City Council has invested more than six million dollars to better its parks and sports fields.
Eleven parks and sports fields will be renovated and upgraded in a comprehensive program known as “Parks 11.” The Parks 11 program includes the following parks and sports fields:
  • Orange Memorial Park softball field
  • Orange Memorial Park baseball field
  • Buri Buri Park baseball field and basketball court
  • Southwood baseball field renovation
  • Alta Loma baseball field, tennis courts, and playground
  • Avalon baseball field
  • Hillside soccer field
  • Sellick Park playground
  • Gardiner Park playground
  • Newman and Gibbs playground
  • Dundee Park playground

City officials commit to better our parks and ballfields.

South San Francisco is home to dozens of parks, ranging from large community parks, to specialty parks, providing gathering places for families and friends to get outside, play sports, and exercise. This past June, the South San Francisco City Council voted to invest more than six million dollars to better its parks and sports fields over the next several years.

Eleven parks and sports fields will be renovated and upgraded in a comprehensive program known as “Parks 11.” The Parks 11 program includes the following parks and sports fields:

  • Orange Memorial Park softball field
  • Orange Memorial Park baseball field
  • Buri Buri Park baseball field and basketball court
  • Southwood baseball field renovation

Construction at Alta Loma Park Playground began on Monday, October 16, 2017, and will be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting. Improvements include new play equipment (examples shown below), rubberized playground surfacing, fencing and other site improvements.
