SSF Firefighters Deploy to SoCal ‘Creek Fire’ as Part of SMC North Zone Strike Team

On Tuesday at 2:30, the north zone strike team from San Mateo County departed from South San Francisco Fire  Station 61 in response to the “Creek Fire” in Los Angeles County. The Strike Team Leader is a SSFFD Battalion Chief, and Engine 61 departed with a crew of four personnel.

The north zone strike team is made up of SSFFD Battalion 17, SSFFD Engine 61, San Bruno Engine 51, Brisbane Engine 81, Daly City Engine 91, and Half Moon Bay Engine 40. All three San Mateo County strike teams were dispatched simultaneously today, which is a total of 14 engines, plus one engine from Santa Clara County and three strike team leaders.

The “Creek” fire is in Los Angeles County near Sylmar/Tujunga/Sunland (hiway 5 at highway 210). It is currently at 12,600 acres, 10% contained, and is not associated with the first fire to hit the media on Monday, which is in Ventura County.

UPDATE: as of 6am DEC 8TH this fire was at 40% containment with 15K acres burnt. Predicted full contentment by 12/23/17. 2500 structures are still threatened,33 residences destroyed, 32 other structures destroyed, 2 injuries reported.
