At 100 years of age, the historic bank at the corner of Grand Avenue and Linden Avenue in South San Francisco will once again find a new vibe as restaurateur John Akkaya uses his tried and true skills to create a new Italian Eatery; Andiamo in Banca (we go to the bank). This elegant restaurant and bar is to be added to the list of accomplished eateries owned by Akkaya which include Cafe Figaro in Burlingame and  Ristorante Don Giovanni in Mountain View. Both of these restaurants are destinations in their respective Cities and with Akkaya’s fine reputation we can expect the same with his new creation. Scheduled to open by the end of the year.Check out the menus linked on both restaurants to get an idea of what delectables we might expect to grace our City soon!

Also of note: A beer garden will also be coming to this historic building and will be located on the bottom floor. We will update with more information as it becomes available yet believe this new venture will also open before the years end.

{UPDATE 7.10.18 4:30p} The TAVERN (Craft Winds Tavern) which will be featuring 31 taps – local beer, some favorite German/Belgium beers, and 6 wines on tap and some of favorite local ciders! They are also working on a special bar menu with Andiamo. Stay tuned for more updates and visit them at Instagram: @craftwinds

{UPDATE 1.18.19} The TAVERN is not able to move forward in this location due to size constraints. Should they choose another location we will update info}

{UPDATE 1.24.19} The Grand opening for Andiamo In Banca has been postponed. It had been scheduled for this weekend.

Frankly I’d like to see an Applebee’s. It’s not like we have a shortage of Italian restaurants. Maybe even a decent steak house would be great. We don’t even have one!

With all of the construction going on, it is extremely difficult to find parking around here. I have a daily parking permit for work and we all find it problematic every single morning; it’s literally a daily conversation. HOWEVER, I feel (hope) once the construction around us is over and their workers are no longer taking up space, it’ll free up a bunch of parking. We should all be excited about this and thankful to the city that it’s not a chain like Applebee’s or Olive Garden!

I’m very excited the building was saved and that a fine dining Italian restaurant is coming!. We’ll walk from the parking lot up the street! Better than driving to Burlingame or San Mateo!

Great news! I love Italian cuisine, and more Italian options the better. This 40+ year resident of South City is happy. Fantastico!

Great! Now where are all these upscale patrons going to PARK? Anyone given any thought to THAT? No, of course not! People mistakenly believe SSF is a suburb of the best to the north, I guess that’s what we’re becoming, like it or not!

Michael,

What is WRONG with the Miller Avenue Parking Structure? It’s MAYBE a five-minute stroll from the corner of Grand and Linden; doesn’t anyone WALK anymore? Of course, if you insist on parking on the STREET you’ll probably MISS your reservation!

…and quite possibly breakfast the next morning as well once your car runs out of gas in the middle of Grand after circling all night!

The parking garage is just 1 block away! SSF is about the only city in the Peninsula that did plan for their growth! Proud to be a 50 year member of this Community and thrilled to see that our city is finally getting the up-do it deserves!
