South San Francisco, CA July 16, 2018
South San Francisco voters will have a full ballot this November as they decide who will be representing them in our City and on our School Board with three seats on our City Council, 1 seat for City Clerk, 1 seat for City Treasurer, and 3 seats for the School Board open.
City Clerk Krista Martinelli has confirmed today she will not be seeking re-election, rather she will be returning to her law profession. “It was a hard decision” Martinelli said “But this choice was was inspired by Noah, my hard working autistic son and his accomplishments in our South San Francisco School District. I intend to assist other Bay area students to secure similar opportunities for success.”
It has been confirmed that School Board Trustee Rosa Acosta will be campaigning for the City Clerk position and will be pulling papers today. Acosta is currently the City Clerk in **Pinole, CA. and is the only candidate for this position at this time.
Frank Risso will also be seeking a return to his position to City Treasurer and to date there are no other candidates for this role.
Our City Council candidates include newcomer Mark Nagales who is currently an Aide with Congresswoman Jackie Speier and serves as a Commissioner on our Planning Commission after completing multiple terms on our Parks and Recreation Board. Incumbents Addiego and Gupta are also pulling papers once again to retain their current positions on City Council. Mayor Liza Normandy will be making an announcement tomorrow.
At the moment there have been no candidates named for the three open positions on our School Board.
