While traditions continue, there’s a lot new planned for the 2019 San Mateo County Fair.
Launched last week, the San Mateo County Fair’s new web site www.sanmateocountyfair.com was designed to enhance the user experience. Fair guests can get the latest fair news, take advantage of discounts, enter contests and stay current as the Fair announces its concert line up. “The fair guest experience starts when they log on to our web site to start planning for their family outing at the San Mateo County Fair,” said Dana Stoehr, chief executive officer for the San Mateo County Event Center and Fair.
The new web site was designed to provide a user-friendly experience. Accessed direct from the home page, fair guests will find the latest concert lineup as main stage acts are announced, savor the menu of fair delicacies and sign up to become a “fair insider.”
The new site also features bright, lively graphics and photos,” said Justin Aquino, fair operations manager. “While the design is especially attractive, the user experience was our top priority.”
Also new for 2019 is this year’s fair sub-theme announced today. This year’s fair is dedicated to “Celebrating the Best of the Bay,” said Stoehr. “Not only are we celebrating the 250th anniversary of the discovery of the San Francisco Bay, we are also celebrating our talented fair exhibitors, dedicated volunteers and new and returning fair guests.”
The Fair is partnering with the San Mateo County Historical Society to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Discovery of the Bay.
Among the new plans for the “Best of the Bay” celebration will be a Best of the Bay Scavenger Hunt. The hunt which will send fair guests throughout the fairgrounds where they will discover county fair fun facts and county landmarks. Also new for 2019 is Pacific Islands Day, which will celebrate the rich culture of the county’s Pacific Islander residents. The Fair and Pacific Islands Together (P.I.T.), a non-profit organization, have joined together to present this exciting new day at the fair. “We are delighted to be working in partnership Reyna Meafua, president of Pacific Islands Together, to create this new day for our county’s fair,” said Stoehr.
Another new feature of the 2019 Fair will be a selfie museum, where fair guests can snap pics in backgrounds of some of San Mateo County’s favorite landmarks, including Pigeon Point Lighthouse.
“Planning for the 2019 fair started the first day of the 2018 fair,” said Dana Stoehr, chief executive officer of the San Mateo County Event Center and Fair. “It’s a year-around team effort and we have a lot of exciting new attractions planned for this year’s fair.” Stoehr said that as plans are finalized additional new attractions will be unveiled in the months ahead.
