Beloved Brentwood Bowl to See Upgrades Not Demolition

South San Francisco, CA  March 18, 2019

As many have wondered what was going to happen to the iconic Brentwood Bowl, continued speculation that it was going to be demolished proved false at this time.

Per the SSF Economic Development Department, the Bowl will instead be receiving upgrades per this post on their facebook page today.

“Brentwood Bowl is about to get some long-needed upgrades & TLC. This week, the City approved permits for the first phase of improvements, which will include: a new kitchen, remodeling the dining area, and upgrading the snack area. Phase 2 will include renovating the bowling lanes. Brentwood Bowl is now being operated by the owners of the popular Downtown SSF sports bar Hometown Heroes. Congratulations & good luck, guys!”

There had been work in progress to move the Bowl to the old Century Theaters which was not realized due to situations beyond the control of the interested parties. That property is now undergoing plans for a housing/ mixed use development. To read more of the previous Brentwood Bowl plans CLICK HERE.

I am glad Brentwood Bowl will not be demolished. Serra Bowl is now just a memory and now they are building low cost housing. The last thing South City needs is more people. The area is over congested as it is.

They should take the area where the theater was and make it into some kind of family-oriented center. There really isn’t much family fun areas around here.

Agreed. As a life long SSF resident there needs to be more family friendly areas and restaurants. It’s shouldn’t be about more housing and growth, it should be about people over profit. SSF is at a key phase where planning has the ability to choose between residents or developers profits.
