South San Francisco, CA August 10, 2019 Submitted by Madi Erin Barbante, Volunteer Manager
Hi Everyone we are looking for volunteers!
My name is Madi and I’m the volunteer manager for the 37th annual Leap Sandcastle Classic, Northern California’s largest sandcastle competition that supports a valuable cause: bringing essential arts programs into local schools. You’re getting this email because we would love for your team to volunteer for our event.
This unique sandcastle competition, nonprofit fundraiser, and community event brings over 3,000 people to San Francisco’s Ocean Beach every year to construct creative sand sculptures on an impressive scale, with local San Francisco students. This year the event will include a live stage and performances to encourage more of the local community to attend and have a fun day at the beach. We’ll also feature raffle prizes, food trucks, and Community Sandcastles that anyone can help build.
The public event is on October 26th, 11:00 am-3:30 pm. We have lots of volunteer opportunities available throughout the day for various shifts. We are also looking for a few specialized volunteers who are lifeguards, EMTs, or Registered nurses to keep our beach participants safe for the day.
HOW TO VOLUNTEER:
Go to this website to see the full list of volunteer spots open.
Find a position that suits you and that you’re able to commit to, and sign up!
We will get in contact with you closer to the event with details about where to show up and what you’ll be doing.
*For Large Groups (10+ people): If you have a group that you’d like to sign up to volunteer together, please email me directly to coordinate finding the right spot for your group.
Since we are really depending on our volunteers the day of, we ask you to only sign up if you can fully commit to the entire timeslot. If you are not able to make your shift, we’d appreciate your help to find a replacement.
Let me know if you have any questions, and we hope you can join us on the beach!
