Home Sharing Coordinator – North San Mateo County

Position Profile:

As part of HIP Housing’s effort to provide affordable housing solutions in San Mateo County, we are seeking a passionate, self-motivated professional to join our team as a North County Home Sharing Coordinator. The North County Home Sharing Coordinator works closely with applicants who have a room to rent in North San Mateo County and persons who are seeking a place to live. The position also offers the opportunity to participate in outreach activities to raise awareness of the Home Sharing Program in North San Mateo County.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Individuals considered for this position will demonstrate experience in interviewing and screening applicants, managing a caseload, working collaboratively with staff and community partners, as well as building robust community relationships.  Candidates must be able to convey passion for the work of the agency in both oral and written formats. Equally important, this position requires a good working knowledge of San Mateo County housing resources, casework/social work skills, mediation, and community outreach. The best candidate will be organized, able to manage a variety of casework and administrative tasks, and have a willingness to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, interns, and applicants.

 

How you will spend your day:

The North County Home Sharing Coordinator will work closely with the Home Sharing team and will manage a caseload of applicants who are offering a home sharing opportunity in North San Mateo County and persons seeking housing who wish to live in North San Mateo County. Though this position is located at our San Mateo office, the North County Home Sharing Coordinator will work off-site on Tuesdays at the Magnolia Senior Center in South San Francisco and on Thursdays at the Daly City Community Center.  This position features a flexible work-week scheduling with every other Friday off!

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interview, screen, and assess the candidacy of Home Sharing applicants
  • Maintain client information on application and in database
  • Conduct home visits as needed to interview clients or conduct mediation
  • Maintain caseload of clients interested in living in or providing housing in North San Mateo County cities
  • Search for and provide home sharing referrals, community resource information, and follow-up support to clients
  • Work with Home Sharing Program Assistant, interns, and volunteers to assist with caseload follow-up
  • Assist clients in their search and placement in a home sharing arrangement, complete Living Together Agreements, and conduct mediation when necessary
  • Complete monthly program data and outreach information for funding reports
  • Occasionally attend meetings/events/ funding hearings related to North San Mateo County.
  • Maintain networking relationship with service providers in North San Mateo County to stay current on services provided and to collaborate on housing and other resources for clients
  • Provide information, referrals and housing opportunities to persons inquiring about the program and to HIP Housing staff
  • Maintain knowledge of socio and economic trends that impact population served

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in social service working with diverse populations
  • Excellent writing, interviewing, organization, and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Conflict resolution, flexibility and good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of available community resources
  • Occasionally travel throughout San Mateo County and have valid California Driver’s License and vehicle
  • Computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, and Access
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking and writing preferred

Outpost offices in South San Francisco and Daly City 

 

Reports to:

Associate Director and Senior Home Sharing Coordinator

 

Salary and Benefits:

  • This position is a full-time, exempt, at-will, annually reviewed job.
  • $50,000 depending upon experience
  • HIP Housing offers an excellent benefits package including generous PTO, employee medical paid at 100%, dental, vision, employer matched pension plan (5%).
  • Additionally, this position features alternating Friday’s off with an initial 3-month probation period.

Assistant Property Manager

As part of HIP Housing’s effort to provide affordable housing solutions in San Mateo County, we are seeking a passionate, self-motivated, experienced and credentialed professional property manager to join our team managing 24 housing communities in San Mateo County.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Assistant Property Manager is responsible for helping the Property Manager and other office co-workers ensure that daily tasks are completed in a timely manner, keeping units occupied, supervising employees, helping to resolve resident disputes, the supervision of contractors, staying within the budget and providing assistance to residents. Additional duties and responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

 

  • Maintaining the physical assets of the apartment properties
  • Training and development of on-site and off-site personnel , including property maintenance & resident services staff
  • Ensuring staff compliance with Company policies and procedures, governmental policies and procedures
  • Working as a team player and maintaining productive relationships with the community and other property management professionals
  • Maintain productive, professional relationships with Company employees, suppliers, vendors, and professionals serving the property
  • Prepare and update all weekly, monthly and annual reports as requested
  • Certify and annually recertify all tenant income and assets and insure compliance with the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit or other governmental housing program requirements
  • Review all rental applications and lease forms for accuracy and compliance with HHAV, government and Fair Housing policies
  • Know and understand fair housing, landlord-tenant and other laws and ordinances that apply to property management
  • Ensure all rent collection and deposit policies are followed
  • Ensure daily bank deposits are made and recorded; all rent collection and deposit policies are followed; accurately maintain rent roll, resident ledger and apartment ledger
  • Maintain all tenant and property files and records
  • Implement the company’s Health, Safety and Illness Prevention Programs

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • High school graduate or equivalent with training in leasing, management or related activities preferred
  • Demonstrated administrative and supervisory experience
  • 2+ years of property management experience
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and “listening” skills
  • Organized, detail oriented, able to focus, multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Possess strong computer skills with Microsoft Windows, Gmail, Outlook, Word, and Excel; and use a telephone, copier, fax and other basic business machines
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid California driver’s license, and proof of insurance
  • Must be able to read English at a level sufficient to understand label instructions and warnings, write English at a level to write professional looking notes to coworkers and residents, and speak English at a level to effectively communicate with residents, coworkers and vendors
  • During the workday, the Assistant Property Manager may be required to push or carry items of 25 lbs., climb ladders, kneel or twist, grasp, pull, carry, and push equipment such as boxes, carts, vacuums, brooms, or mops
