South City Says Goodbye to a Long Time Neighbor: Stu Harmon

South San Francisco, CA   November 19, 2019

We are saddened to share the news that South City resident, Stu Harmon, has passed Sunday November 17th, after a battle with cancer. Stu was a frequent voice on our online community here at Everything South City, and larger than life in RL (real life) Our thoughts are with his family and his friends.

We thank Andy Saunders for sharing these words of wisdom from Stu:

“A lot of the problems in today’s world are caused by people not understanding or prejudging each others’ ways, traditions, and ideals. All this could easily be solved by a few hours grilling some hotdogs and sharing some stories on an overcast day in an empty parking lot. You don’t need much but some free time, a warm lunch and a cold drink to make new friends, laugh, and then realize we all have pretty much the same problems, fears, uncertainty as well as joy and happiness in our lives.

We just need something in common to get us together to find out about others’ ways and for a few of us that love of cool automobiles or motorcycles or anything like that is that one tie that binds. I know that sounds a little simplified, and it probably is, but you get the point. We all may not understand it, but we are brothers and sisters doing time on this planet for better or worse…

I’ll take the better, if you all don’t mind!”

-Stu Harmon

From Millbrae Arts and Wine Festival FB pg:

It is with tremendous sadness that we share with you the passing of our great friend Stu Harmon. Stu was one of the key players in organizing the Art & Wine Festival’s popular Classically Cool Car Show. He was always and forever the friendly face, the welcoming committee, the good humor man. Stu was a truly wonderful human being and his kindness left a memorable mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He will be sorely missed by so many. Our thoughts, prayers and love go out to Stu’s family and many friends. Until we meet again, rest in peace good friend!

Stu – I hope that Tom and you are trading Mopar stories as I type this. I don’t think I ever met you but from what I’ve read, you were just a wonderful person. I’m pretty sure my late husband Tom met you. Rest in Peace.

I knew Stu from Moparts.com and my wife and I came out to his clubhouse in 2008 from Chicago to start a trip all the way up PCH to the Puget Sound. It was an awesome way to start the trip, we only wish we could have come back out and have fun with him again sometime! He was always selfless and truly great human being. Those that never met him missed out on of the best people ever born!

Stu… He never met a person who didn’t become a friend. He was generious with his time, knowledge, food and Love. He always made you feel special when you talked to him. No matter how busy he was, he always made you feel welcome. The Car Community has Lost the Patron Saint of the BBQ, The King of Hospitality, The Real Mr. Cool. The Friend to ALL. You will never be replaced and ALWAYS will be Missed…

Just heard the sad news of the passing of MOPAR Stu Harmon. A great friendly man with a sense of great humor and a leader at his job ,in Car Club activities most importantly a proud family man. In his front porch I could see houses I built from Sunstream homes on San Bruno MT. for Carpenters 848. Stu will greatly be missed from the Peninsula community as a man to set standards to follow as a friendly car enthusiat and great man. Summer hot dog parties will miss you forever Big Stu

Stu was always first to put together a gathering. All of us that participated in many, many car shows – those members of GGSMU,
could count on Stu and Sally to bring us together. We all loved to put up the tables, our chairs, bringing goodies, but none were better than the home made breakfast burritos that Stu and Sally, stayed up late, to make and bring so we all could enjoy on sometimes a cold, early morning car show. They always had coffee set up, with all the fixings. They were just there, never failing to be set up and ensuring all of us had food, some “beverages” to warm us up and love to fill our hearts. We just always expected to find these moments and Stu and Sally putting together a table to share with us. Sure we all bought food to share also, but it was knowing, no matter what, all of us would be included in that loving embrace called Stu and Sally. There are so many memories that come to mind, but the best was in the love we shared together, friends, club members, people who laughed together, cried together, and always found our way back to find joy together. Stu, have a wonderful time in Paradise. Sally, Deanna and family always know there are hundred of people who came together just to share so many amazing times together with love at the heart, alway.
