Richard ( Rich, Dick) E. Holt, Sr., 77, of South San Francisco, passed away on December 7, 2019. Richard was born December 10, 1941, in San Francisco, the son of Peter and Thelma Lowe Holt.

He leaves his treasured wife Jeannette to whom he was married for 55 years; his son Rich (Laura) of Lakeville, MN; and his son Bill (Madeleine) of Pleasant Hill, CA. He also leaves his two grandchildren, Chase and Kaia, who were the light of his life. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, beloved grandfather, and kind uncle and brother-in-law. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. He was an Army veteran (1963-1966). He worked at General Dynamics for 38 years. He enjoyed being a member of the San Francisco chapter of the Sons of Norway, SSF Elks, Historical Society, SSF Friends of Parks and Recreation, SSF Kiwanis, Kaiser, and Friends of the SSF Library. He was active in many roles with the city of South San Francisco, including Commissioner of Parks and Recreation. He was an avid reader of military history.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on December 16, 2019, at the Garden Chapel in South San Francisco; and a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm at the Elks Lodge (920 Stonegate Dr, South San Francisco). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Holt’s name to the SSF PAL Boosters, 33 Arroyo Drive, SSF 94080, or do a kind deed in his memory.
