On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at 7:30 a.m., a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Grand Avenue, resulting in serious non-life threatening injuries to the pedestrian.
After the collision, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene eastbound on Grand Avenue towards Airport Boulevard. The 74-year-old South San Francisco resident was crossing in a marked crosswalk on Grand Avenue at Walnut Avenue when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue struck her. Witnesses described the vehicle as a 2012 black Chevrolet Camaro.
South San Francisco police detectives located the vehicle and driver on the 100 block of W. 20th Avenue in San Mateo. The driver was identified as 34-year-old Daly City resident, Angelo Estipona. Estipona was arrested and booked at the main jail for felony hit and run. It does not appear as alcohol, drugs, or excessive speed was a factor. The South San Francisco Police
Department’s traffic unit is continuing the investigation and is asking if anyone witnessed the collision to call Motorcycle Officer Ledesma at 650-877-8900.
