Memorial Day May 25 2020 – We Remember and Honor Those Who Gave All

South San Francisco, CA  May 22, 2020  hat tip to Robert Riechel, of Riechel Reports

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the military personnel who had died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
The holiday is now observed on the last Monday of May, having been observed on May 30 from 1868 to 1970

Each year for Memorial Day, local Boy Scouts have put flags out on every grave at Golden Gate National Cemetery in remembrance of those who died while serving our country. Memorial Day Services this year have been canceled and we share this information sent to us by San Bruno’s Robert Riechel, of Riechel Reports. We also take this opportunity to remember Carolyn Livingood, who chaired this annual event at the Avenue of Flags, within the Cemetery. She is dearly missed, and we are appreciative that her daughter, Lexis, has taken on the responsibilities.

From Riechel Reports:

For years Carolyn Livengood would chair the Memorial Day Remembrance at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno CA

This year her daughter Lexis Livengood continues the remembrance

Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 we will not be having our traditional Memorial Day event

Lexis put together a video https://vimeo.com/420995106/5c961c299e

Plan to take a few minutes at 3:00 p.m. local time Monday May 25 2020 to gather and watch as we ALL remember.

Video can be shared with others and can be viewed at ALL other appropriate times.

The video can be viewed on Avenue of Flags Facebook site, Avenue of Flags website, Band of West website, San Mateo County VSO and many other sites.
