Drive-In Movies, Fun Food and Good Times at the San Mateo County Event Center and Fairgrounds Announced

South San Francisco, CA  June 15, 2020 Submitted by SMC Event Center

The San Mateo County Event Center and Fairgrounds are excited to present safe entertainment to kick off the summer by offering pop-up drive-in movie nights in our large parking lot.

The San Mateo County Fair Drive is pleased to announce its upcoming releases; tickets can be purchased following the links below:

6/19 – Dodgeball

6/20- Napoleon Dynamite

6/26 – Independence Day

On show days, guests will drive into the Fairgrounds at 1346 Saratoga Drive, and be directed where to park. A ticket attendant will scan tickets via guest mobile device, through the car window. Tickets are $35 per car presale.

Showtime is 9pm (Gates open at 7:30 pm) and will be shown on a 40-foot x 20-foot widescreen. Smaller cars will not be parked behind big trucks, so everyone will have an excellent spot to see the movie. Guests will tune into an FM radio station to hear the movie’s audio.

Fair and Event Center CEO Dana Stoehr said. “We have been searching how we can provide entertainment when there’s nothing else? What can we do? How can we pivot? We searched and found a company that could help us efficiently provide an outdoor movie experience and, we got to work.”

Fair Concessions will be sold from 12-9pm in the West Parking lot at 2495 S Delaware St, San Mateo, CA so come on down and grab dinner, dessert, and a movie. Concession includes Big Bubbas Bad Barbeque, Fanny’s Funnel Cakes, Corn Dogs, and lemonade, soda, water, beer, wine, and margaritas served 12-8pm on 6/19 and 6/20.

“We have desperately wanted to Gather Again and have found a way to do so responsibly and in compliance with the San Mateo Health Order,” Stoehr said.

Great idea! Glad to see this but have a couple of questions.

Will there be additional movies shown or are these the only 3? Also, if additional movies are shown, will there be any family movies?

Thank you!
Mary
