South San Francisco, CA January 7, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Giustina Bonaguidi, who passed away peacefully while sleeping in the comfort of her home on January 2, 2021 at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving children.
Giustina Martinucci, the youngest of three children, was born on March 4, 1936 in Corsica, France. The family had to flee soon after the start of the war and returned to Italy and lived in the small town of Colle di Compito, Tuscany. Giustina lived there until 1957 when she met and married Eugenio Bonaguidi (deceased 2008).
The couple immigrated to the United States in 1959, making South San Francisco their home and raising three children there. Giustina enjoyed being a mother and housewife. When the children had grown, she went to work at Macy’s warehouse where she loved her job and coworkers, eventually retiring. One of her biggest passions was cooking and her dishes will be missed, especially the lasagna. She also had a shared passion for gardening with her husband and created an amazing garden at their home which will forever grow in their memory.
Giustina is survived by her daughter, Morena (Bonaguidi) Gallagher, her son-in-law, David Gallagher, her son, Jeffrey Bonaguidi and his partner Arlene Josephson, her daughter Nancy Bonaguidi, who was also her loving care caregiver for many years, her grandchildren who she cherished, Christopher Gallagher and Kayla (Gallagher) Wimmer, (Weston). She was blessed to have two great grandchildren, Lukas & Bodie Wimmer.
A viewing will be held Thursday, January 7 at Garden Chapel @10:00 am. The services are to follow @11:00 am at the Italian Cemetery in Colma. Due to COVID-19 restrictions masks are required.
