SSFPD Media Release: Auto vs. Pedestrian Collision

On Wednesday night, at approximately 7:48 PM,  the South San Francisco  Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on the 200 block of Village Way. A 5O-year-old South San Francisco resident was transported to a local trauma center to treat their serious injuries.

 

A preliminary investigation revealed that the injured party was lying in the roadway during darkness when the collision occurred. The unknown suspect vehicle drove over the pedestrian’s torso before fleeing the scene.

UPDATE From SSFPD

IDENTIFIED & APPREHENDED: On 01/21/2021, South San Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit conducted a thorough and in-depth investigation, following a hit and run collision from the night prior on the 200 block of Village Way. The incident left a pedestrian in critical condition. South San Francisco Police Department Traffic personnel were able to positively identify the driver and place them under arrest for felony hit and run. The driver was later booked into the San Mateo County Jail. The South San Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Unit is dedicated to keeping our streets safe. The Traffic Unit would like to personally thank the community for their assistance in apprehending the driver.
