South San Francisco, CA February 9, 2021 Submitted by SSFPD
On February 6th 2021, at approximately 3:37 am, South San Francisco Police officers responded to the 600 block of Grand Avenue on the report of a person with an electric bicycle down in the roadway. Officers discovered the 55-year-old male subject was not breathing and immediately began providing life-saving aid. The South San Francisco Paramedics arrived shortly after and continued efforts to revive the male; however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The male was riding an electric bicycle westbound on the 600 block of Grand Avenue when he collided with a parked vehicle and was thrown from his electric bicycle. The male was not wearing a DOT approved helmet but was wearing a novelty helmet with no padding.
There is no evidence to suggest any other vehicles were involved in the collision, and it appears alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
The South San Francisco Police Department is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the department at 650-877-8900, 650-952-2244 (Anonymous Tip Line), or via email at web-pd@ssf.net or tips@ssf.net (Anonymous Email Tips).
