KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: San Mateo Beach Monitoring Weekly Updates Available

South San Francisco, CA  May 26, 2021

Memorial Day seems to be our official kickoff of the summer with crowds heading to local beaches. While most of our local beaches are safe, there are some areas that periodically become polluted with E. Coli, Coliform, or Enterococcus, especially after rain storms.

The County of San Mateo performs a weekly testing of local waters and posts updates on their website HERE.

Linda Mar Pacifica State Beach is favorite spot for locals, yet often times the water quality has been deemed hazardous, so it is good to know before you get into the water. The area is a great viewing spot for whales as they migrate up the coast { more here }

This week report identifies three Pacific-side beaches and three bay-side beaches as hazardous, advising not to swim there.

The County performs testing on Thursdays and updates can be found CLICK HERE.

Please note, not all beaches are sampled each week so do check the interactive beach map HERE to confirm.
