SSFPD Media Release: Four Arrested at DUI Checkpoint Saturday Night

South San Francisco, Calif. – On Saturday night, the South San Francisco Police Department held a DUI and Driver’s License checkpoint. The checkpoint was held on the 1400 block of Hillside Boulevard near Stonegate Avenue during the nighttime hours

During the safety enforcement operation, one driver was arrested for DUI. Another motorist (who had a previous DUI conviction) had been drinking and was arrested for violating the terms of his probation and for driving with a suspended license. Two other drivers were arrested for outstanding warrants.

Fourteen drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or for driving with a suspended/revoked license, A total of 609 vehicles/drivers were contacted.

Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

The South San Francisco Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling. The South San Francisco Police Department will hold additional DUI/Driver’s License checkpoints later this year.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
