Join us June 15 to celebrate the reopening of the state
My office is pleased to invite you to our Reopening of the State Celebration on June 15 in Colma at Mike Nevin Plaza! After a year of sheltering in place, we can finally join together in person to salute our resilience and tenacity in overcoming COVID.
There will be free food, music, resource tables and acknowledgements given to our first responders, nurses and other essential workers who kept us safe and provided us critical services why many of us sheltered in place for nearly a year. We will also offer the vaccine for free for those who have yet to get that shot in the arm.
Gov. Gavin Newsom announced in March the state’s next step in the COVID-19 pandemic recovery, moving beyond the Blueprint for a Safer Economy and the colored tier system we now live under.
On June 15, the governor said California will fully open its economy if two criteria are met: If vaccine supply is sufficient for Californians 16 years and older who wish to be inoculated; and if hospitalization rates are stable and low.
This is a great event for people of all ages and backgrounds to attend and we hope you will be able to visit. As a friendly reminder, we will adhere to any state health orders that remain in place! The Centers for Disease Control has indicated those who have been fully vaccinated will no longer have to wear masks unless in crowded settings. So, let’s be prepared to safely celebrate this incredible milestone.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to ditch my damn mask.
The celebration is at Mike Nevin Way in unincorporated Colma. Located between 7684 and 7800 El Camino Real, Colma. (Conveniently located near Colma BART).
