South San Francisco Police Deliver Over 400 Backpacks to Local Elementary Schools

South San Francisco, CA  July 27, 2021 Submitted by SSFPD

Thank you School Liaison Officer Thomas Lopez!

Back to school is just around the corner and 400 South San Francisco elementary students will be starting off the school year right with a new backpack and school supplies donated by

Costco.

“With the current school supply shortage going on nationwide, being able to provide 400 children with much-needed backpacks was something we were eager to do,” said South San Francisco School Liaison Officer Thomas Lopez.

Yesterday, Officers delivered all 400 backpacks to the six South San Francisco elementary schools, along with Junipero Serra, Monte Verde, and Skyline elementary schools, which included $40 gift cards through a new Shop Local

South City program sponsored by the City.

Low-income residents can receive these gift cards by contacting [email protected]. The gift cards can be used starting August 2, 2021 – January 31, 2022, at participating local businesses found at www.ssf.net/SSFGiftCard.

“Being able to give back to our community is part of our mission and working with the schools to give these children something that will enhance their experience going back to school is very heartwarming to all of us,” added Officer Lopez.
