SSFPD Media Release: Armed Robbery and Burglary

On September 9th, 2021 at approximately 9:20 pm, two unknown male suspects entered a business on the 300 block of Grand Avenue. One of the suspects attempted to pry open a vending machine as the other stood by as a “Look out.” An employee witnessed the incident and confronted the suspects. One of the suspects ran out of the store as the other grabbed a cash register from a nearby counter and ran out of the store. The employee ran after the suspects and caught up to them on Grand Avenue at the pedestrian walkway that connects Grand Avenue and 4th Lane.

 

The employee was in a physical struggle with the suspect who stole the cash register as the other suspect brandished a taser device and attempted to intervene. The employee was able to defend himself from both suspects and both suspects fled the scene on foot, who were last seen running west on 4th Lane towards Maple Avenue.

 

The first suspect was described as a White male, approximately 40 to 50 years-old, 6’03” tall, between 180 to 200 pounds, with black hair. The suspect was wearing a black beanie, a black mask, a black and gray jacket, dark colored pants, and boots. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male, between 20 to 30 years-old, 5’07” tall, and 200 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black beanie, a red hooded sweatshirt, and black shoes.
