The Alice Peña Bulos Community Center

South San Francisco, CA  November 2, 2021 Press Release

Westborough Recreation Building Officially Renamed Alice Peña Bulos Community Center

On Saturday, October 23, 2021, the City of South San Francisco celebrated the renaming of Westborough Recreation Building (2380 Galway Drive) to Alice Peña Bulos Community Center alongside family and community members

Ms. Bulos was a former college professor in the Philippines, who was a leader of the Filipino community in the North Peninsula area for many years and lived across the street from Westborough Park until she passed away in October 2016. She was a strong supporter of, and advocate for, the Filipino community and spent many years promoting public policies and services

This is the second community center to be renamed after trailblazing women who have made an impact on the South San Francisco community. On September 25, 2021 Magnolia Center (601 Grand Ave.) was officially renamed the Roberta Cerri Teglia Center. For more information, view the staff report presented to City Council at their March 24, 2021 meeting.
