South San Francisco, CA December 9, 2021
After much anticipation and excitement, the new SSFPD station has been completed and the ribbon cutting event was held the morning on December 8th. In attendance were retired Police Chiefs Mike Massoni and Mark Raffaelli. Current Police Chief Azzopardi will be retiring at the end of this year.
The new facility is located at 1 Chestnut **Ave. across from the Safeway shopping center, where Ron Price once stood, and more recently, The Pet Club. Directly across the street a Community Center is being built, which will replace the offices currently at 33 Arroyo Drive. Measure W , a .5% sales tax, funded this project after being approved by voters in November 2015.
Below is information the SSFPD shared on their Facebook page yesterday morning.

The South San Francisco Police Department would like to thank our retired personnel, citizens and City Council for attending yesterday’s ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Police Operations and 911 Dispatch Center. From Maple Avenue to Arroyo Drive and now Chestnut Avenue, this new Police Department will be our home for many years to come. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Your work is very much appreciated. This place is amazing!!!
My sister and I drove past the “new” police station, last night and just had to take a picture….the E in Police is already burned out. LOL
