South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce to host Education Foundation Fundraising Event April 21st

South San Francisco, CA  March 16, 2022 Submitted by Karin Moss, CEO, SSF Chamber of Commerce

We are excited to bring you good news!

The South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce has formally established an Education Foundation.

The South San Francisco Education Foundation, (EIN:85-2930060), 501(c)(3) will support the enhancement of education and educational programs within the South San Francisco Unified School District boundaries providing funding support for both the school district and individual school programs and offering and managing scholarship programs for “qualified students” seeking university, college, or vocational advancement. Determinations as to which students shall be “qualified” for any such scholarship program are to be made at the discretion of the Board of Directors and officers of the South San Francisco Education Foundation.

Because of the generosity of the local business sponsors, deserving high school students in our community could apply for a scholarship to support their higher learning. Your pledge of $1,000.00 or more, provides hope and encourages local students to return to their roots and work where they once grew up. You can show that the business community stands behind its youth and really cares.

The scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors that are residents of South San Francisco and will be seeking university, college, or vocational advancement. There is an extensive application process for each of the applicants to complete. Last year, 30 students were fortunate enough to be granted a scholarship, thanks to businesses like yours.

In the past, we had a celebratory luncheon in April, and pending any new COVID restrictions, we will honor our students at a luncheon that will be held at the South San Francisco Elks Lodge on Thursday, April 21, 2022. We encourage all our scholarship sponsors to participate in our scholarship luncheon, and a representative from your business present the scholarship check to the student at the luncheon. Your business will be recognized in all media releases and printed material related to the scholarship program.

Kindly make your check payable to the South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, reference “Scholarship Fund 501(c)(3), and return to the Chamber by Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce at (650)588-1911. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Tony Clifford

Chairman, Education Scholarship Committee
