South San Francisco, CA April 22, 2022
No matter if they are currently active with our South San Francisco Fire Department, or retired, our firefighters continue to support the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation and the good work they do with children who have suffered burns, most notably the healing Champ Camp. This week-long retreat for the kids offers them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to just be kids among others, who like themselves, have suffered burns. While there is medical staff in attendance, this week away gives the kids the chance to be away from the medical procedures, allowing the kids to play, learn, grow, gain self-esteem, and make new friends.
The camp is 100% FREE to the kids attending
because of the generous donations made by our communities.
Our firefighters, often having witnessed those who have been tragically burned, know the horror these victims must continue to live with, so they step up to help these kids find some normal in a very surreal life.
Now is the time for all of us to step up and be part of this Champ Camp by donating whatever amount we can, knowing EVERY DOLLAR helps!!
This year we can count on retired SSFFD Firefighter Mike Gonzalez to once again take on this challenge “Grow Your Stache Fundraiser” while fundraising to ensure kids can attend the 2022 camp.
