South San Francisco, CA April 19, 2022 from Star Walk
The planet alignment will occur on April 20, when Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Venus will create a near-perfect line in the predawn sky.
The viewing conditions will be rather favorable: all the planets will be within range of naked-eye visibility and will rise higher above the horizon before sunrise. Although you’ll still need a clear horizon to see Jupiter, which sits lower than the other planets.
You’ll find Jupiter in Pisces, Mars, Venus — in Aquarius, and Saturn — in Capricornus.
*The dim planet Neptune will also take part in the April alignment, reaching conjunction with Jupiter on April 18. However, Neptune is completely invisible to the naked eye, so you’ll need a pair of binoculars or a telescope to spot it in the sky.
