South San Francisco, CA May 11, 2022 By Garden Chapel Funeral Directors
On Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022 a feisty angel made his way to heaven with the passing of Desilva “Boe” Fontenot. A country boy with a huge heart who adored his family and loved his beautiful wife Linda until the end.
Born on August 28, 1943 in the little town of Raywood, TX to David and Louise (Mama Kitch) Fontenot. Desilva was the youngest sibling of Ray, Joe, John, David Jr., Wallace, Ragis, Alfred, & Shirley. He worked on his family’s farm baling hay, along with tending to other farm responsibilities until he moved to San Francisco where he became a truck driver for Consolidated FreightWays, he retired in 2000 as a warehouseman.
Boe was a jack of all trades along with being an exceptional cook and baker, with his Cajun roots he was always whipping something up in the kitchen for family and friends. If you wanted to hear about the good old days, Boe always had time to share stories along with his crazy escapades.
Desilva was happily and hopelessly devoted to his wife of 59 years Linda Metoyer Fontenot. Boe and Linda knew of each other but officially met in Beaumont, TX 1962 when their siblings were dating. He was especially delighted and happy that his wife Linda retired in 2014 so they could spend more time together.
He was so proud of his three children, LaTonya Fontenot-Cisneros, Desilva Fontenot Jr. and Frank Fontenot, his two grand-daughters Taylor and Talia were his pride and joy. He’s also survived by his daughter-in- law, Khristi Cotter Fontenot and son-in-law, George Cisneros.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A rosary and a celebration of life will be on Thursday May 19, 2022 at 11:00a at Garden Chapel in So. San Francisco,.
Boe’s favorite saying was “God Bless The Rain, May The Dust Settle”
