How San Francisco Became a Failed City; As SF Goes, Does CA and the USA Follow?

South San Francisco, CA  June 10, 2022

Just over the ‘hill’ from us –

While we are SOUTH of San Francisco, we know all too often what happens in San Francisco is a stepping stone for the rest of the State and Country. This is a long read, sent to us by one of our South City neighbors, asking that we share this well-written, well-thought-out essay on How San Francisco Became a Failed City, And how it could recover

Our City has done well in protecting us from many of the harsh realities that are plaguing the City, but there are some issues that do fall over beyond City borders. Yet other California cities have not been as fortunate, and yes, we ourselves have seen some of the negative impacts of the recent years of decline in quality of life values. San Francisco has always been a place for new ideas, solid and crazy; today the fact that the area encompassing San Francisco clear down to Santa Clara, and into the East Bay, is now considered ‘Silicon Valley’, ties us closer together.

What similarities described in this article do you see South City struggle with? What areas do you see our City able to navigate more positively? Please share your thoughts on this article below

There is much to be gleaned from this- please do take the time to read it, and enjoy the incredible photography by Austin Leong, and the views by wordsmith Nellie Bowles.

A few points from this article, out of the Atlantic, well crafted by the author Nellie Bowles:

We need open space and remember that important piece of article my father wrote. As a lifelong resident of 33 years and a culinary influencer myself It was a piece of hard work that he wrote so hard to call to action to the city to stop building and he doesn’t brag about it. As a local celebrity chef it’s important to have your voiced heard . And some of the projects were completed by the city of south san Francisco without south san Francisco resident voices and that’s very unfortunate. When the next earthquake hit im afraid they might fall down to pieces thank you

vote no on everything ! our current leaders are a bunch of Marxist’s / communist.
are city is going to hell like the rest of the country. I guess that is where they will
put all the migrants. I still call them illegal I don’t care what they call them. they
have been trying to turn this city into San Francisco for years. a once beautiful city.
gone into decline. only the rich democrats that live there have it good. not for long.
