Officers noticed the driver was no longer wearing the black satchel, however, it was found underneath a vehicle next to where the driver was standing.
A search of the satchel revealed an unregistered firearm. The driver was booked for numerous firearm charges.
Great proactive work by our Officer by taking another illegal firearm off the street.

ARREST MADE – ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER / PURSUIT / ILLEGAL FIREARM POSSESSION – Earlier tonight (8-05-22) the South San Francisco Police Department’s Neighborhood Response Team conducted a traffic stop on the 1000 block of San Mateo Avenue, after they observed a vehicle code violation.
As officers were speaking with the male driver from East Palo Alto, he suddenly restarted the vehicle and rapidly accelerated away. Unfortunately, an officer who was standing outside of the vehicle was dragged, forced to the ground, and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A vehicle pursuit was initiated, which ended in the City of San Bruno, when the suspect vehicle collided with two parked vehicles after he discarded a loaded firearm out of the window.
The male suspect was apprehended and was additionally found to be in possession of burglary tools. He was subsequently arrested and later transported and booked into San Mateo County Jail.
The injured officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
Outstanding work by everyone involved tonight! Way to get another gun off the street and preventing this subject from victimizing anyone from our community.
