The South San Francisco Cultural Arts Commission presents a multi-media art show featuring works celebrating the traditions of “Dia de Muertos/Day of the Dead.” This cultural tradition, observed in Mexico and Central America honors the life of deceased family members and friends. It is a joyful celebration, expressed in vibrant crafts, art, music, dance, parades, and the preparation of traditional cuisine.

The juried visual art exhibit features two dimensional and three-dimensional works, including painting, photography, mixed media, and cultural crafts. The event also showcases the artwork of the SSF Childcare Division participants. Colorful “Dia de Muertos” art and crafts will be available for purchase. Saturday’s craft activities include sugar skull creation by well-known local artist, Evangelina Portillo. Other crafts include mask making and more.

The online art entry deadline is Friday, October 7, 2022. Visit Current Opportunities for Artists page for the online entry form. Complete entry guidelines and updated information can be found at www.ssf.net/culturalarts.
