Rose Villa Obituary

South San Francisco, CA  September 24, 2022 by Garden Chapel Funeral Directors

t is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Rose Villa (Maria del Rosario Fuentes Montoya) on August 22, 2022, just shy of her 100th birthday. Rose was born in Villa Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico on October 9,1922 to Manuela Montoya and Julian Fuentes. At the age of eight, after the death of her father, she immigrated to the United States with her mother and sister Mary where they settled in Redwood City.

Rose and Frank were married in 1940 and were married for forty-nine years until Frank’s death in 1989. Rose was a devoted mother to Rose Marie (deceased), Frank (Vickie), Richard (Alma), John (Denise), Sylvia, Joe and Lori. She also leaves nineteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and many loving family members and friends.

Rose worked for many years as a machine operator in the envelope industry and during World War II she was a ‘Rosie the Riveter” at the shipyards in San Francisco.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards, going to play bingo, scratchers and was an avid reader. But what she enjoyed most was being surrounded by family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hercules Education Foundation at herculeseducationfoundation.org or by mail: 1511 Sycamore Ave. M-286, Hercules, CA 94547. Rose enjoyed volunteering with this organization.
