GHOST GUN ARREST – Last night Officers assigned to our Neighborhood Response Team initiated a traffic stop on two juveniles from San Francisco near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Oyster Point Boulevard. They noticed what appeared to be a short barrel assault rifle on the rear passenger floorboard. Officers safely detained the juveniles and conducted a search of the vehicle which yielded a fully loaded, unserialized 9mm handgun under the front passenger seat. One of the juveniles was subsequently arrested for firearm related charges.
The short barrel rifle appeared real; however, further investigation revealed it was an airsoft gun. Officers could not tell the difference until allowed the opportunity to manipulate the firearm in a controlled environment.
Great self-initiated police work resulting in the safe recovery of firearms and keeping our community safe!
