Sign Hill Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony November 28 at City Hall Steps

South San Francisco, CA  November 28, 2022

Lighted Christmas tree, 2011

From our 2011 files, our Christmas Tree lighting on Sign Hill is seen far and wide!

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

South San Francisco will embark on a new tradition this year with the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony taking place on the steps of City Hall, November 28th, from 5p-6:30pm. At that time, both City Hall and the downtown holiday decorations will come to life with lights while Santa’s elves make a visit offering hot chocolate amidst the cheerful sounds of carolers.

If you attend this evening, be sure to thank Victoria Vallecorse, producer for ABC/Localish in San Francisco, for reaching out to us inquiring if we had such an event happening, which allowed us the opportunity to connect her with City Hall, bringing this idea to fruition. Who knows? You just might end up on TV so flash that big ole happy South City smile and show your holiday cheer!

And a big thanks to our City employees and Public Works for all the behind the scenes work to make this magic happen!

SANTA COMING TO TOWN

And remember, our annual Santa Comes to Town will take place Sunday December 4, from 11a-3pm on the steps of City Hall, thanks to co-sponsorship of the Kiwanis Club of South San Francisco and the South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce.  There will be pop-up events on Grand Avenue during the day as well, so enjoy spending some time downtown.

SANTA LETTERS

Once again our little ones can write a letter to Santa and deliver to the special mail box at City Hall and eagerly await a reply from the big guy!
