SUSPECT ARRESTED TWICE IN ONE DAY: Early Friday morning, two suspects, 20 year old Oakland resident and 22 year old San Leandro resident, attempted to burglarize a business on the 100 block of West Harris Avenue. Upon police arrival, both suspects attempted to flee on foot but were captured by our Officers after a short foot pursuit.
One of the suspects had a firearm holster but Officers were unable to locate the firearm at that time. Both suspects were booked at the main jail for numerous felony charges.
Last night, our Neighborhood Response Team were conducting follow up and noticed the 20 year old Oakland resident return to the scene of the crime possibly looking for the discarded firearm. Our Officers detained the suspect and located a loaded 9mm handgun at the scene. We gladly offered the suspect a ride back to the main jail.
Great job to our Patrol Officers and our Neighborhood Response Team for your excellent work on this case. While we cannot control when these suspects get released after they get booked, we will always be ready to protect and serve our community!!
