Message from our SSF neighbor:
“Hi, I wanted to give you a heads up that it appears someone was using Everything South City on Instagram as a scam and stupid me fell for it.
The post is no longer on Instagram. It showed the “Everything South City” name with a photo of the mayor.
The post was in Teagarden to a give-a-way for a Garmin watch to celebrate Garmin’s 30th Anniversay. The link takes you to another page to answers some verification questions. Then you gues which package has the prize (you get 3 attempts). On your 3rd pick you win and only have to pay $1. I should have stoped there but filled out the credit card info, email and phone number.
When done, you’re taken to a page for a company called MatchShape to join. I left the page and searched MatchShape online and it doesn’t exist.
My bank account was debited the $1 from MSAPayment. That site exists so I contacted them at the site’ phone number. Someone names Jacob answered only saying Customer Service (no company name mentioned). He said it shows I sugned up for for the Garmin Watch prize and 2 memberships to MatchShape and something else beginning with the name Access.
I just wanted you to be aware.”
Be very careful of these types of scams, I was trying to make a purchase online and turned out to be a fake website, I immediately canceled my Apple Card which started getting hit every couple of days for $3.99 and $4.99 It continues to get hit but shows that it is declined because of the canceled card. I would cancel your card immediately before they possibly make a big hit on it, as they do small sample hits before they go big.
