October 1, 1954 – October 16, 2022
Kurt Alan Common, 68, passed away on October 16, 2022. Raised in South San Francisco by Melchoir and Enes Common, Kurt is survived by his children Shauna Braun, Alisha Ferrario, and Eric Common; grandchildren, Hailey, Logan, Carter, Siena, and Gemma; and brothers Greig, Glenn, Keith, and Michael Common. Together the family founded and operated Common’s Auto Parts in South San Francisco.
Kurt attended South San Francisco High School, California Polytechnic State University, and San Francisco State University. A lifelong learner, he eventually retired from teaching AutoCad & Industrial Arts at City College of San Francisco.
He enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends, golfing, sailing, and playing with his grandkids. In addition to being a bay area sports fan, he loved watching Stanford Women’s Basketball and Formula 1 racing. Kurt had a strong spiritual life, raising his children in the Millbrae Community United Methodist Church and, later, Mariners Church in Orange County. Kurt will be remembered for a life filled with curiosity and dedication to family and friends.
Celebration of Life with memorial service will be held on January 7 at Garden Chapel in South San Francisco.
