South San Francisco, CA June 29, 2023 Press Release
Caltrain will provide weekend schedule service on Tuesday, July 4, for Independence Day, including two southbound local trains leaving after the end of the San Francisco waterfront fireworks.
Riders planning to attend the festivities in San Francisco can ride Caltrain to the San Francisco Station and either walk or connect to MUNI for service to and from the waterfront. The special event trains will depart after the end of the fireworks show, as soon as they become full. The last train departs San Francisco Station at 12:05 a.m.
Given the large crowds expected, riders are encouraged to use Clipper or purchase a Day Pass through the Caltrain mobile app to avoid lines at ticket vending machines. Riders using the mobile app must purchase their ticket on July 4 for it to be valid. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold onboard trains but can be purchased at station ticket machines.
Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the Caltrain mobile app or through ticket machines onsite. The mobile app can be used immediately after parking, as it requires a space number. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.
Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the trains beginning at 9 p.m. on special event days and nights.
