Voluntary Recall of Specific Frozen Fruit Products Due to Possible Contamination by Listeria Monocytogenes
Sunrise Growers Inc, a subsidiary of SunOpta Inc, has initiated a voluntary recall for certain frozen fruit products. This decision was made due to concerns regarding an ingredient provided by a third-party supplier. The recall is due to the potential for these products to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes is a harmful organism that can cause severe infections in vulnerable individuals such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. It is important to take necessary precautions to protect these individuals from potential harm. It is concerning that even healthy individuals may experience symptoms such as high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea and abdominal pain due to Listeria infection. However, pregnant women are particularly at risk of suffering from miscarriages and stillbirths as a result of this infection.
