Joan Rossi passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023, in Oakmont assisted living, in Burlingame, CA with family by her side.
Joan was born November 9, 1936, in San Francisco, CA to Edwin and Mary King. Her father was a San Francisco Police officer. She graduated from Presentation high school in San Francisco and worked for some time as a dental hygienist. In May 1960, she married Ernest “Ernie” C. Rossi Jr. and started a family. They lived in Brisbane for several years before building their dream home and moving to South San Francisco.
Joan had a passion for spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and relished hosting family events. She beamed with pride when everyone was in the same house. She also enjoyed time at Clear Lake with family and friends. After her husband passed away in 1996, she continued to be independent and active, spend time with friends and family and enjoy their retreat in Clear Lake. Joan often told her kids that she was blessed to live a great life with no regrets and always telling her family to “live their lives” and to “love and take care of each other”.
Joan was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Ernest C. Rossi Jr., and his son, Chris Rossi. She is survived by 6 children and spouses, Ernest C./Debra Rossi III, Karen Rossi, Anthony/ Kelly Rossi, David/Deborah Rossi, Paul Rossi, and Brenda Rossi. Joan was also blessed to have 11 grandchildren and their spouses, and 9 great grandchildren.
To celebrate her life a visitation will be held on Thursday August 10th at 7pm at the Garden Chapel in South San Francisco and a funeral mass will be held on Friday August 11th at 12:15pm at All Souls Catholic church followed by interment with Ernest Jr. at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Joan requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
