Southbound Train #644 Fatal Pedestrian Strike – Redwood City Friday December 24th

At approximately 2:55 p.m., southbound train #644 fatally struck a person at Brewster Avenue in Redwood City. Emergency personnel from police and fire were on-scene. There were 149 passengers on #644 during the time of the incident, with no other reported injuries. At 3:29 p.m., trains began single-tracking on the northbound tracks at restricted speeds of 15 MPH through the incident area. At approximately 3:46 p.m., train #248 arrived and accommodated passengers from #644. This is Caltrain’s 13th fatality of the year.

 

The Transit Police, who patrols the Caltrain corridor, is investigating today’s fatal incident. The final cause of death and identification of the individual will be determined by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.  No matter what the circumstances, it is always regrettable when a life is lost.

 

Caltrain reminds everyone to be safe around train tracks.
