ARREST – DUI / HIT & RUN – A 21 year old male from San Bruno was seen by a witness asleep behind the wheel of a Ford F150 pick-up truck near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Miller Avenue.
Officers “boxed in” the vehicle with patrol vehicles, but the suspect awakened, accelerated, and damaged two San Bruno Police Department vehicles, who were on scene to assist. In the process the suspect also crashed into a light pole near Grand Avenue and Miller Avenue. The suspect remained in the driver’s seat and initial attempts for him to voluntarily exit the vehicle were unsuccessful.
Officers were forced to gain entry into the vehicle by breaking the passenger side window. The suspect was safely removed from the vehicle, taken into custody, and treated by South San Francisco Fire Department personnel. The suspect was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for precautionary measures. After being medically cleared, the suspect was booked into the San Mateo County jail. Great job by everyone involved in removing this dangerous driver off of the road. Thank you to San Bruno PD for the assist!
