Burlingame Pet Parade & Walk For Hope September 27th

Pet Parade

This annual family-friendly event offers free entertainment and art projects for children. Every participant will receive a souvenir ribbon and fancy ribbons are awarded for the Best Pet Trick; Most Unusual Pet; Best Dressed Pet; and Most Original Float, Group or Wagon.  The Grand Prize winner receives a special prize too!  Judging will take place immediately after the parade at Broadway and Capuchino.

 

About the Burlingame Pet Parade

The Burlingame Pet Parade was started in 2004 by a group of Burlingame residents who wanted to bring the community together with a hometown event. The 2014 Burlingame Pet Parade is sponsored by the City of Burlingame, the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, the Broadway Merchants association, Pet Food Express, The Daily Journal, the Alan Canas Team of Realtors, Korody Business Services, and Forte Press.

Music at the Pet Parade will be provided by:

  • The Burlingame High School Band
  • The Los Trancos Woods Community Marching Band
  • The San Mateo Elks Concert Band

Hope Walk

The Hope Walk is a great way for you and your companion animal to spend a fun day together at the parade while also fundraising to help shelter animals at the Peninsula Humane Society.  Encourage family, friends and coworkers to pledge for you and earn cool prizes! Parade Map

The parade will assemble in Parking Lot Y on Chula Vista near Laguna, adjacent to Pick of the Litter.  Participants should plan to be there by 9:30 a.m.
The parade will march up Broadway from Chula Vista to Capuchino, where it will turn right and circle back down Broadway. The entire parade consists of a leisurely stroll that lasts about 30 minutes. Final judging will take place and prizes will be awarded immediately after the parade in front of Broadway Grill at Broadway and Capuchino.

Rules

Parade participants should report no later than 9:30 a.m. on the day of the parade to the parking lot next to the Pick of the Litter Thrift Shop at 1127 Chula Vista (near Broadway). The parade will start and end at this location.

The rules are simple:

  • No political or commercial promotions.
  • Foot power only (exceptions may be arranged).
  • Groups are encouraged to identify themselves with a banner or sign. 

The parade will start at 10 a.m. and will march up Broadway to Capuchino, where it will turn right and circle back down Broadway. The entire parade consists of a leisurely stroll that takes about 30 minutes. Broadway will remain closed to through traffic for another hour after the parade, when viewers and participants can enjoy music by participating bands, shop at local stores and enjoy a snack at a restaurant .

Judging will take place during and after the parade. The judges will select approximately 6 finalist in each category prior to and during the parade.  They will make their final selection of the category winners and the Grand Prize winner immediately after the parade at the judging & review stand outside of Broadway Grill.

Ribbons will be awarded for:

  • Best Dressed Pet
  • Most Unusual Pet
  • Most Original Float or Wagon
  • Best Pet Trick
  • Grand Prize Winner

All types of pets are welcome; even stuffed animals are allowed.

 

Hope Walk

Join us on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Burlingame Pet Parade for our Hope Walk!

The Hope Walk is a great way to raise funds for shelter animals while spending a fun day at the Burlingame Pet Parade. The walk will start at 10:00am (arrive earlier to be at the front of the pack) and last for about 30 minutes. After the walk is over prizes and awards will be handed out to participants.

Encourage your family, friends and coworkers to pledge for you and earn cool prizes. It’s easier than you think to raise money. He an example of how to raise $200 in just a week:

Day 1: Donate to yourself – $30
Day 2: Ask your significant other – $30
Day 3: Ask a friend – $30
Day 4: Ask a neighbor – $30
Day 5: Ask a relative – $30
Day 6: Ask your boss or coworker – $30
Day 7: Ask a local merchant – $30

The more money you raise, the more you and the animals win!

Hope Walk Prize Levels:

Proud Pup ($100-$199): Plush dog toy
Curious Canine ($200-$299): Eco-friendly doggy poop bags and holder
Friendly Fido ($300-$399): Light-up leash
Diligent Dog ($400-$599): Pet photo frame
Mighty Mutt ($600+): Leather leash and collar set!

*Plus a special gift certificate to the pet friendly Stanford Inn by the Sea will be awarded to the participant who raises the most money for the animals!
