The Derrick Ward Memorial Car & Motorcycle Show will take place again this year at the Brisbane Marina (400 Sierra Point Parkway)on Sunday April 13, starting at 9am until 4pm, rain or shine. Derrick Ward, a local resident, was only 50 years old when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which took his life within 45 days of being diagnosed.
Ward was a long time car and bike enthusiast and owned ‘What It Is Body and Paint Shop’ in Pacifica and was founder of Low Creations Car Club. His pancreatic cancer and death hit his family and friends hard and they were determined to bring more awareness to this deadly disease. It was also a great way to bring people from all backgrounds together, which was something Ward had a knack for doing. He loved seeing his friends have a great time. This family friendly event draws over a 1,000 people each year.
The event brings together approximately 150 motorcycles and 300 cars registered for show and plenty of great food vendors along with others supplying T-Shirts and other novelties.
This is the 7th Annual event; Ward lost his battle in April 2007. The event has helped raise approximately $8,000 per year after expenses were paid. The group is looking forward to breaking the total amount contributed to $50,000 with this year’s event. Proceeds go to the New York Presbyterian Hospital Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
Bikers will be meeting at South City’s Dudley Perkins (333 Corey Way) at 9am to ride to the event. Cost at the meet up is $20 which will include Entry to the show, lunch, a raffle ticket.
The event organizer, South City resident Cindy Langley said, “Currently there is room for 3 more vendors at the low cost of $50 per booth. Please have people contact me directly for any information.” She added “The attached applications will also give more details.”
Langley can be reached at [email protected] or 650 477-8208 for more information on registration, etc.
Is it too late to sign up for this show? I have a 1975 Black Corvette Stingray to show.
Please let me know if I can sign up at 9am.
