Grocery Shopping Survey Results Presented

South San Francisco, CA   April 27, 2017

Last month we invited our South City neighbors to complete a 1 minute survey regarding their grocery shopping practices and preferences. The survey was limited to one responder per device/computer with nearly 1000 participants. We greatly appreciate all who took part in this anonymous survey and, while this was informational only, we will be sharing these results with the City of South San Francisco. It is important that our elected officials hear from our community as we move forward in this next phase of growing our City.

‘Where do you do your grocery shopping?’ was our first question and we allowed up to 3 answers as we recognize many folks shop at multiple stores. Trader Joe’s came in as the first go to with 57% and Smart & Final was the lowest utilized coming in at 18%. Mollie Stones in San Bruno garnered 11%, the lowest in our survey.

UPDATE: Our survey included ‘traditional’ stores that would carry items for diverse cultural cuisine (curry, mint, bok choy, ginger, basil, Italian sausage, cilantro, jalenpos, etc) which is why specialty stores such as Pacific Market (caters to Asian market) or La Hacienda Market (caters to Hispanic market), among other great shops, were not included.  We also did not include our local produce markets such as Chavarrias or Ayar which supplement many of our grocery shopping.
