Community Meeting

After Care Program for Middle Schools

Where & When

Tuesday, March 25th
7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Ponderosa Elementary School
295 Ponderosa Road
South San Francisco

As parents of upcoming middle school children, we are looking at the possibility of having available options for after school care for our children in South San Francisco. We wanted to host a community meeting to hear from other parents regarding their needs for a middle school program located on their campus. The goal of this meeting is to simply assess interest level and hear ideas of what type of program you are interested in (i.e., academic, recreation, life skills, homework time, study skills, etc.). We will take these ideas and see if we can make this happen for our middle school children!

We are inviting all parents and others from different departments and offices from the city.

This is a great opportunity to support our kids and our community by creating something great. We need your presence and participation to shape what this looks like and to make it happen!!! Looking forward to seeing you!
Please feel free to forward on this invite.

I completely agree with Grace. I know that in some other states you are not allowed to leave you child home alone until they are, at least, 12 years old. I know that, as a parent, it is my responsibility to ensure my child’s safety and I would not feel safe leaving my 10 year old to supervise himself. My eldest is only in second grade, but I have already begun thinking about what I am going to do and I will definitely be at the meeting tonight. Like they say, it takes a village.

Great idea, I’ve mentioned this at WMS and was told no budget, kids at this age are old enough to be home…I so disagree, kids at this age become easy targets for bullying, gang, predators and unsafe situations.
