Petition in support of Planned Parenthood for South San Francisco

St. Ignatius graduate and SFSU student steps up

South City resident Kylie Hicks has taken up the call to action relating to the recent controversy on the proposed Planned Parenthood on Grand Avenue.  Hicks, wanting to have another side of the debate recognized,  has asked  folks who would like to see a Planned Parenthood in South San Francisco to sign the petition she has started on Change.org.

Hick’s states her reasoning in the text of the petition addressed to City of South San Francisco Planning Commission with subject ‘ Support the installment of Planned Parenthood in South San Francisco, CA.’

Planned Parenthood would be an asset to South San Francisco by providing accessible resources and education for reproductive and personal health, which would foster responsible and informed health decisions and improve the health and welfare of those seen there. Services provided would include primary care annual exams; contraception and family planning services; cancer screenings; clinical breast exams; STI screening and treatment; HIV screening; adolescent, midlife, and male services; pregnancy testing and options counseling; and education services.

The petition that is being circulated states:

To:
City of South San Francisco Planning Commission
Please support the installment of Planned Parenthood in South San Francisco, CA. The addition of Planned Parenthood to our community will have a positive impact by providing much needed accessible health and educational resources.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

The petition is in response to the 250 signatures that were previously turned into the city offices by opponents of Planned Parenthood. This issue will be before the city Planning Commission tomorrow evening, Thursday May 2nd at 7:30pm under the PUBLIC HEARING portion.  The meeting will be available to view on the city website in a live stream fashion for those who can not make the meeting and are interested in this discussion.  The 107 page agenda and staff reports, including the letters and petitions of opposition are also available online.

Planned Parenthood looks to set up their clinic.  Many cry unfair to the  local merchants that see a disruption to their businesses due to the negative signage and attention.

Kylie can talk until she is blue in the face; but someday that same face is going to have to explain to her Lord and Maker why she would support an organization whose primary purpose is to murder children.

I will pray for your soul, Kylie.

IT is a SHAME this young woman did not learn the Catholic faith at S.I.

My Grandfather and alot of REAL CATHOLICS who attended S.I.must be rolling around in their graves!

My suggestion is for Kylie to read about the history of Planned Parenthood and their
foundress, Margaret Sanger who was a fan of Hitler and believed EVERYONE should be blond
and blue eyed and called the ‘negroes’ weeds that need to be pulled!!!

So, that is the kind of business you want in South San Francisco?

And don’t believe them that they will not be doing surgical abortions…..not for a minute.

Their CEO back in New York in one of their newsletters stated that he wanted ‘ALL OF HIS
CLINICS TO DO SURGICAL ABORTIONS’.

Check it out for yourself if you doubt me.

Planned Parenthood is not about helping women, babies or anyone else……

It is in business for abortions. They make from $250 to $2,500 depending on the size
of the baby.

Kylie, I also suggest you check out ‘Live Action’ and get the real story what’s going
on now in their ‘clinics’. It’s all on video.

May you be guided and enlightened by the Holy Spirit!!!

Elizabeth,

First, I would like to say that I am glad that you care so much about our community that you are as passionate about this issue as I am, although we have differing opinions on this issue. We are so lucky to live in a country and time where it is our right to have and voice opinions involving social and political issues. We will have to agree to disagree on our stances regarding Planned Parenthood’s presence in South San Francisco.

You implied that I am not a “real Catholic,” and again, you have a right to your own opinion. My relationship with God is intensely personal and passionate, and therefore private and not up for debate on this platform or any other. It is between God and me, and no one else. Your opinion on that matter will have no effect, positive or negative, on that relationship. It is secure, steadfast, and safe, and nothing and no one has ever been able to change it.

With a combination of hard work and the blessing of my parents supporting my education, I was able to attend St. Ignatius College Prep. The experience had a large part in shaping me into the person I am today. I attended classes with people of mixed cultural backgrounds, religions, and experiences. One of the chiefest things I learned there was to be a woman “with and for others.” It is this value that has led me to exercise my First Amendment Rights within my community. Please know that I am informed. I have studied the issue from both sides, and I have chosen where I stand. And where I stand is with Planned Parenthood.

I believe the inclusion of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte in South San Francisco is an issue of social justice, not one of faith. I believe that Planned Parenthood will address social determinants of health. The social determinants of health are the circumstances in which people are born, grow up, live, work, and age, as well as the systems put in place to deal with illness. These circumstances are in turn shaped by a wider set of forces: economics, social policies, and politics. I believe this is a matter of social policies and politics, and that Planned Parenthood will help to break down the barriers of the social determinants of health by providing those in our close-knit and widespread community with much needed health care and resources that they would otherwise not have access to.

I understand that I will not change your mind, just as you will not change mine. I respect that you are coming from a place of passionate belief. I do ask that you keep in mind that we both act out of a deep love for our community, and to remember to act with respect and compassion so that we may open a dialogue between both sides of our debate. And although our opinions may differ, our intent remains the same – to try to make a positive impact on our community.

Kylie,

The biggest issue of Social Justice is LIFE!

And Planned Parenthood is NOT about LIFE AT ALL!

Plus, you cannot be ‘Catholic’ and be for abortion, plain and simple.

Plus you say no one has ever been able to change your opinion, if Dr. Nathanson who
was an abortionist for many years turned around and had a conversion, Kylie, so
it can happen to you! And I pray it does.
